Tiga Pemimpin Kadazandusun Murut (KDM) Ajak Masyarakat Sokong BN

Posted: 24 Mar 2013 11:10 AM PDT

Posted: 24 Mar 2013 11:04 AM PDT

KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 –  Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak  attended a ‘Sembang Mesra Belia Bersama PM’ programme and spent about an hour mingling with youths at the Astro Fiesta Mesra Belia 1Malaysia Carnival in Ampang, near here, yesterday.

When Najib arrived at the carnival at about 9.50pm, he was welcomed by a thunderous applause from the thousands of youths who had waited for him since 7pm.

Najib, together with Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek and Pandan Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat joined a sea of people to watch a concert by local performers like Black, Datuk Hattan, Jay Jay and Awie.

The Prime Minister later joined a group of performers on stage to sing a number of songs, including 1M4U and ‘Terima Kasih Sayang’ made popular by Awie.

Najib in his short speech thanked the people for their patriotism through the songs rendered at the carnival.

Describing the event as extraordinary for the response from the people, the Prime Minister said more of such programmes would be organised in the future.

“I am overwhelmed to witness the high level of patriotism and loyalty shown by the people towards the country and its leader. Thank you for the banners that featured ‘I Love PM’ reflecting their true affection,” he said.

The three-day carnival that started on Friday and attended by about 20,000 people was organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Astro.

Dr Abdul Majid passed away at his residence today at about 4pm while his remains will be buried at the Makam DiRaja Shah Alam at 11am, today.

Posted: 24 Mar 2013 10:59 AM PDT

Pemuda Perlu Pastikan BN Terus Berperanan Satu Padukan Rakyat – Hishammuddin

Posted: 24 Mar 2013 10:54 AM PDT

Turut hadir Ketua Pergerakan Pemuda Umno Gombak, Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Tan Sri Omar Din.

Penduduk Mohon Polis Siasat Dakwaan Penipuan Dalam Projek Pembinaan Pangsapuri Kos Rendah

Posted: 24 Mar 2013 10:48 AM PDT

PM Drives Home ‘Healthly Lifestyle’ Massage

Posted: 24 Mar 2013 03:23 AM PDT

PUTRAJAYA, March 24 – Even as the election fever is hotting up, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak this morning turned his attention away from politics to focus on driving home to the people the message of a healthy lifestyle.

He joined about 15,000 people who had gathered at Dataran Putrajaya as early as 7 am for the “Jom Ceria Bersama Perdana Menteri” (Let’s Be Cheerful with the Prime Minister) event.

Addressing the early birds, Najib said rapid development had changed the lifestyle of Malaysians to such an extent that the country had to put up with more cases of obesity, diabetes, hypertension and such.

“This is no laughing matter. It is the reality. My doctor tells me that many people in the country suffer from hypertension. I have the statistics. They are frightening. We have to make a change because our lifestyle has changed a lot,” he said.

The event, organised by the 1Malaysia People’s Foundation and Putrajaya Corporation, is an extension of the “Langkah Ceria” (walk) and “Kayuhan Ceria” (cycling) events staged by the Putrajaya Corporation every third Sunday of the month.

These events are aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, besides uniting the people of all races, promoting recreational activities and enabling the people to enjoy the prosperity of the national administrative capital.

The prime minister said a more integrated and resilient community could evolve if all the people could tear down the wall that stops them from engaging in sports, recreational and social activities regardless of the racial, cultural and religious barriers.

He said the 1Malaysia philosophy could be better translated into reality through activities such as those held today when all the people could gather in the spirit reflective of one Malaysian community.

“We also wish to inspire the people to work in a community. The individual is important, meaning as one unit of the community, but we do not want any section of the community to be too individualistic.

“In other words, these individuals will resort to doing things without regard for others. That will only lead to extreme situations. What we want to do is to develop the individuals and give them the opportunities to build their potential to the optimum,” he said.

The people gathered at Dataran Putrajaya were in a cheerful mood as the beating of drums by the Deafbeat group kicked off the event.

This was followed by a martial arts display by the Majlis Pendekar Malaysia before several young icons were invited up on stage to welcome the prime minister.

After delivering his message, Najib joined the people in a walk over a distance of about one kilometre along Persiaran Perdana.

They were flagged off by the prime minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

Daim Urges People To Give Najib Mandate To Continue With His Transformation

Posted: 24 Mar 2013 03:15 AM PDT

KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 –  Former Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainuddin says Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is doing a fairly good job and should be given the mandate to lead the country and continue with his transformation policies.

Urging voters to give Najib the chance for five years, the Umno veteran said: “Test him. Give him the mandate. He is doing a fairly good job. Let’s see him deliver and continue with his transformation policies.”

In an interview with the New Sunday Times, Daim indicated his preference for Najib to win instead of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim whom he deemed as not the right candidate to be the prime minister.

“If you ask me, between the two, Najib or Anwar, I would choose Najib. I will give Najib the chance. Give him the mandate and see whether he delivers because Anwar has had his chances, but he blew them.

“I want Najib to win because I don’t think Anwar is the right candidate to be prime minister,” he said.

“I believe he will mess up the country by getting advice from the likes of the IMF (International Monetary Fund), World Bank and Wolfowitz (Paul Wolfowitz, former World Bank president),” he said.

Daim, who served as the finance minister from 1984 to 1991 and as the special functions minister in 1998 before being reappointed as the finance minister from 1999 to 2001, said it was dangerous if an opposition under Anwar was to lead the country.

“I am worried as he does not have the depth in economy, always needed people to tell him — what to think and what to do,” he said.

So far, he said, there had not been even one significant idea from Anwar as the economic advisor to the Selangor government. Worse, he said, Selangor had badly handled its water issue, which had dismayed developers, investors and the people.

“Why doesn’t he (Anwar) become economic advisor to Kelantan and Kedah if Pakatan believes he is good? Think seriously. Think of our future,” he said.

To a question that Anwar believed that he was destined to become the next prime minister, Daim said: “Well, destiny is an act of God. You can be only one heartbeat away from that post but man proposes, God disposes. I think God still loves Malaysia.”

Daim said he would support Najib but the prime minister must fight corruption and crime, strengthen the nation’s security and review the education system.

He also said that Najib should reshuffle the cabinet.

“Bring in new faces. People think he is carrying too much deadwood in the cabinet. Most are already past their use-by date,” he said.

On the chances of the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the general election, Daim, whose prognosis was interestingly followed, said BN would win but there must be unity within the coalition.

“Umno has about 3.3 million members, MCA, about one million and MIC, about 600,000. That’s already about half of the voters.  Now, you only need some support from the fence-sitters, you should then be able to win. But BN must put new and clean candidates who are acceptable to voters,” he said.

Daim said that if the BN was not united, the opposition pact would do better, as what happened in 2008.

“Stay united, be loyal and don’t sabotage. We need a steady and experienced hand. Only BN has the experience.

“We have gone through crisis after crisis, and recovered very quickly. We have to tell the Chinese that we cannot experiment. Look at Japan. Look around us. Look at Britain. Study what is happening,” he said.

Daim said Anwar had repeatedly said that there would be an Arab Spring-like demonstration should the opposition lose in the next general election because of what they deem as “cheating”.

“He (Anwar) has set the stage to justify their losses if they lose in the next general election. Pakatan is prepping the people so that they can scapegoat the government and the Election Commission.

“First, we are not an Arab country. And second, if there was rigging in previous general elections, how did Pakatan win five states in 2008?

“Arab Spring has turned out to be an Arab Fall (for the lack of a unifying leadership and the instability it has induced),” he said.

Esscom Can Emulate Success Of Rascom – Former Rascom Officer

Posted: 24 Mar 2013 03:14 AM PDT

KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 – The setting up of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) covering a coastline of 1,400 km from Kudat to Tawau, is expected to be as successful as the Rajang Security Command (Rascom) in Sarawak in ending the communist insurgency.

Former Rascom staff operation officer Maj-Gen Datuk Zulkiflee Mazlan said Esscom, which was set up at the time when the country was facing a threat from Sulu terrorists, could succeed like Rascom, in an effort to provide peace, stability and economic growth in the areas under its jurisdiction.

The Rascom model is still relevant, strategic and appropriate in the 21st century to combat a terrorist threat, he told Bernama recently.

ESSCOM came about due to the intrusion on Feb 12 of armed Sulu terrorists from the southern Philippines, who had landed in stages in traditional barter trade boats in Silabukan and Sungai Merah, close to Kampung Tanduo in Felda Sahabat 17, about 110 km from Lahad Datu.

Announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, the ESSCOM areas include Kudat, Tawau, Kunak, Sandakan and Lahad Datu. Lahad Datu.

Zulkiflee said Rascom was set up by the National Security Council on March 25, 1972 (and dismantled on April 6, 1995) to combat communist insurgency from the Northern Kalimantan People’s Party (Paraku) in central Sarawak in Sibu, Kapit, Sarikei, Mukah.

Headed by a Sarawak senior government officer, William Tang, Rascom was not only instrumental in bringing peace and prosperity in the areas under its domain but also in getting Paraku to lay down their arms, thus bringing the three-decade communist insurgency to an end, he added.

Zulkiflee, who is Armed Forces Veteran Affairs Department director-general, was a 24-year-old captain when he started serving Rascom in 1978 and completed his duty in 1980.

Based in Sibu, Rascom was tasked with enhancing security and public order as well isolating communist insurgents from the population by creating resettlement schemes and preventing food supplies from reaching them by mounting roadblocks.

“The armed forces was responsible in maintaining security by flushing out communist terrorists from the jungle. Nuri helicopters were used to trace communist hideouts in the jungle.

“The police were tasked with maintaining public order and enforcing the law to provide a conducive environment for economic growth,” he said, adding Rascom also paved the way for by the Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda) and the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra) to be set up in the areas under its jurisdiction.

Zulkiflee said registration of the people was stepped up to prevent communist insurgents from disguising as locals while security was tightened to prevent communist insurgents from entering towns.

On the Lahad Datu intrusion, he said one of the biggest hurdles faced by the government, was regaining the confidence of the Suluk entnic community in the government.

“Maybe some of them are still grieving, not satisfied with the what the government had done to their kin or relatives… We must ensure that they continue to be loyal to the country and support the government because they choose to live in this country,” he said.

Zulkiflee said Esscom should give greater emphasis to land and sea security while the immigration procedures should be further tightened.

Hampir 2,000 Keluarga Orang Asli Kini Merana Akibat Penerokaan Tanah Adat – Mustapa

Posted: 24 Mar 2013 02:57 AM PDT
