The programme, held simultaneously in several locations nationwide, is an initiative to symbolise the solidarity of Malaysian women and celebrate their success in various fields.

Besides promoting a healthy lifestyle, the programme is also to show support and appreciation to efforts made by the government to dignify and empower women in the country.

In MELAKA, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam, in addressing the crowd of about 10,000 participants at Dataran Pahlawan, said the programme was a manifestation of the women’s role which was becoming more important and appreciated by the government.

“It is hoped that women will continue to play their role in developing the society and also be given important posts at federal and state levels,” he added.

In SABAH, more than 15,000 women gathered at Dataran Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu for the 1 Million Women Assembly.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, in his speech, said the programme also promoted healthy lifestyle among the society.

In PENANG, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, in his speech at the launch of the state-level programme in Permatang Pauh, hoped that it would bring about more health and recreational programmes for women.

Hold Membership Campaign, Tun M Urges Kopeks

Posted: 17 Mar 2013 03:56 AM PDT

KOTA KINABALU, March 17 – Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has urged the Sabah Government Employees Cooperative Society Bhd (Kopeks) to hold large-scale membership promotions among the state’s civil servants.

Dr Mahathir said cooperatives could increase their contribution to the nation’s gross domestic product from the present three per cent, and a bigger membership would give them the capital to diversify their business.

Although coperatives have been around for some time in Malaysia, many people are not yet members and a membership campaign could attract more civil servants to join Kopeks, he said at a Kopeks-organised talk here today.

Kopeks has clearly benefited its members in the state especially those who owe money to illegal money lenders, while members of a cooperative enjoy lower prices and a share of the profits from its sales, he added.

Also present were Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, his deputy Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin and Kopeks chairman Datuk Maznah Abdul Ghani.

PM Launches 1M’sia Perwani Community As Transformation Agent

Posted: 17 Mar 2013 03:54 AM PDT

PUTRAJAYA, March 17 – Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today launched the 1Malaysia Perwani Community that would create a 100,000 strong women’s assembly as a national community transformation agent.

The prime minister said the initiative would spin-off Perwani into small groups of between 10 and 20 women.

“As a mover of various activities, the 1Malaysia Perwani Community can promote healthcare, family welfare, skill training, entrepreneurship and tuition.

“They can become the eyes and ears of the government in combating crimes and threats to national security,” he said when launching the initiative in conjunction with the ’1 Million Women Purple Walk 2013′ here, today.

The 1Malaysia Perwani Community comprises residents’ associations, the Malaysian Association of Wives of Civil Servants and Women Civil Servants (Puspanita), the Police Family Association (Perkep), the Malaysian Armed Forces Family Welfare Association (Bakat), Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), single mothers, and women.

Najib, who is also women, family and community development minister, said the community was an initiative under the National Blue Ocean Strategy to improve the welfare of the society through various activities for the benefits of local community.

The 1Malaysia Perwani Community will act as a conduit between the community and the authorities or to provide feedback on infrastructure or public amenities facilities that needed attention or improvements.

At the event, Najib also launched the Purplelicious Mobile Café, the latest project initiated by the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry to help single mothers earn a living.

Under the programme, nine single mothers from various races run a mobile cafe using two trucks which will make pit stops at selected locations in the Klang Valley and Putrajaya.

The cafe serves submarine sandwiches, pasta and ice blended drinks. The menu is prepared with the help of Chef Jo of the MasterChef Malaysia fame who acts as their mentor.

Ahmad Maslan Nafi Penglibatan UMNO Dalam Video Aksi Songsang

Posted: 17 Mar 2013 03:52 AM PDT

BN Sentiasa Iktiraf Golongan Muda, Kata MB Perlis

Posted: 17 Mar 2013 03:49 AM PDT

KANGAR, 17 Mac – Barisan Nasional (BN) sentiasa mengiktiraf golongan muda kerana mereka juga bakal menjadi penentu masa depan negara, kata Menteri Besar Perlis Datuk Seri Dr Md Isa Sabu.

Hasrat Tanding 15 Kerusi Parlimen Di Johor Bukti DAP Dominasi Pakatan Pembangkang

Posted: 17 Mar 2013 03:47 AM PDT

Pengundi Wanita Sandaran Kemenangan BN Di T’ganu

Posted: 17 Mar 2013 03:44 AM PDT
